AREA MERCI was born from the transformation of the old self-service bar of Arezzo's Centro Affari into a contemporary restaurant and lounge bar, designed to live throughout the entire day. The project completely rethinks the floor plan to overcome the rigid layout of the 1990s and build a fluid, versatile space. Various seating zones — stools, benches, tables and a more private area — are arranged in continuity, maintaining a constant dialogue with the building's public function. Lighting becomes a narrative element: more functional and diffuse during the day, softer and more indirect in the evening, integrated into coves and vaults to transform the atmosphere without altering the architecture. Arches and vaults define the perception of space, creating niches and guiding the gaze towards the bar counter, the visual focal point of the venue. The ceiling, left with its exposed metal structure, reflects light and amplifies depth, giving the space a contemporary, recognisable identity.
