Microhouse
Hospitality
In the heart of Nomentano, a 200 sqm bourgeois apartment is reimagined as a refined mosaic of micro-living units. Nine independent “Microhouses”, tailor-made for the vibrant community of students and professors that animates the neighborhood. The project stems from a bespoke approach: every centimeter is measured, calibrated, and orchestrated to explore the concept of minimal living without compromising comfort. The shared entrance — a luminous double-height space enhanced by a restored wooden staircase and a full-height boiserie conceived as a theatrical backdrop — welcomes guests into this small urban foyer. From here, a fluid sequence unfolds, where materials and proportions engage in a natural dialogue: the warmth of parquet alternates with the sophisticated texture of textile-effect vinyl flooring, creating a seamless continuity between the existing structure and the new geometries. The walls, defined by a neutral and luminous palette, become the ideal canvas for a collection of custom-designed monochromatic furnishings. True architectural volumes that, developing vertically, shape the space as functional sculptures. Each Microhouse layers its functions — study, rest, storage — as levels of a three-dimensional narrative, expanding the perception of space and transforming the minimum into the essential. The project’s chromatic signature is articulated through three iconic tones: brick, green, and light blue. Colors that recur with sensory coherence across floors, furnishings, lighting elements, cushions, and upholstery, building a recognizable and refined visual identity. The result is a small manifesto of future living: a compact, elegant, and intelligent housing model, capable of transforming a historic apartment into a new way of inhabiting the city — balancing comfort, aesthetics, and measure.
